I've been there many times and it sucks. However, it builds us and makes us so much stronger for the next time. We grow mentally and this is a huge part of it. You still ran a great race. I think you probably did what I often do and didn't fuel enough especially on solids. Rest well and relax. There will be many more adventures.Johannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17588120934444485158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791692547710240011.post-77328027457756926402013-03-26T20:55:34.506-07:002013-03-26T20:55:34.506-07:00Thanks so much Hank for your kind words. The problem was, I got pretty ill for about 7 miles of the course. My pace slowed nearly to a snail's pace. If that didn't happen, I would have been at the peak much, much sooner. Thanks for reading. And best of luck to you on your 50 miler!!! The experience no matter what happens, will be grand. The guy who gave me the great pep talk at the end had 5 DNF's for this race. He was an inspiration. Yes, the elevation gain was absolutely insane. But, I thought that I had a chance, though small it may have been. :)Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05538884619777387595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791692547710240011.post-69870840824214873232013-03-26T14:46:24.781-07:002013-03-26T14:46:24.781-07:00I'll be honest, I didn't think too much of...I'll be honest, I didn't think too much of your DNF. Sounds harsh, but I just figured you over trained. And then I went to look up the race to see why you didn't finish it five times. Sounded odd. Well, now I know. 13,000+ feet in elevation? That's, that's, that's insane! Your 41 miles looks way, way more impressive when you add that little tidbit of information. So as I sit here and feel ashamed for thinking you did something wrong, I realize you've simply reinforced the fact that you are one hell of an ultrarunner.Neil Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13023957663164567385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791692547710240011.post-70160509343243102332013-03-26T08:38:52.294-07:002013-03-26T08:38:52.294-07:00You made me tear up reading about how you were so ...You made me tear up reading about how you were so dedicated and completed 41 miles!!!
