Back on the Horse

I have finished moping recuperating from Saturday’s fail.  Sunday and Monday I got in some nice neighborhood walks with my boys.  But I did not run.  It’s not that I thought that I would never run again.  Nothing’s that bad.  I do believe I’ve reached the point of no return.  As long as I am able to run, I will run.  Still, I think that I owed myself a rest.  Sunday, I was not all-together well, still a bit weak.  I slept most of the day away.

Today, I dusted myself off and “got back on the horse.”  While hubby cooked dinner, I decided to put in a short run in and about the marina.  I ran five easy miles.  I had no goal whatsoever in mind.  I merely ran.

  1. I'm really glad to read this post and see you smiling again. Take it easy this week and don't do a very hard and long run this weekend. Next week you'll be your old strong self again.

  2. Really cool ship! That would totally be worth a run in my book.

    1. Thanks for your comment Lumberjack! That ship is a replica of the one Richard Henry Dana took from Boston to California on trading missions. He became famous because of his daily records of his trips back and forth to collect hides. He threw them off the cliffs (down the street from our home) to boats out in the ocean. They in turn rowed them out to a ship like this and sailed back to Boston to return with more goods to trade for the hides. His book is called "Two Years Before the Mast." Dana Point is named after him.
