TALES FROM THE TRAIL (AND SOMETIMES THE ROAD TOO)

One Way Trip

Spent the morning resting – that is making lunches, getting the boys off to school, running errands, scrubbing our bathroom floors, toilets, tub, sweeping floors, vacuuming, doing dishes, laundry.  And then I went to work.  LOL.

I ran home from work this evening.  And let’s just say, I wasn’t feeling the love.  Fatigued, I enjoyed the cool breeze.  But I got spooked by a boy holding a baseball bat over his shoulder like he was going to swing as I ran by him.  I actually lurched out of the way at the last second, crashing my garmin into a street sign’s pole. (He didn’t swing)  And I grew really annoyed at a lady who when making a left hand turn, waited way, WAY too long to stop as I ran (legally, I might add) across the street.

I am so dead-dog tired, already in my pj’s, I’m going to grab myself some water and a book and go lay in bed.  I’m hoping tomorrow to get to responding to past comments.  That’s one of my favorite things to do.

Miles run this evening:  6.38

About 1/3 mile into my one-way trip home from work.  CIMG9789

I kind of felt like I was running in a penitentiary. CIMG9792

  1. Wow, that's so crazy about the boy with the baseball bat. I would have been scared, too! So glad you're all right.

  4. A good thing about being a runner is that whenever there is a dangerous situation we're always able to run away and keep running away for so long that most people chasing us would give up.

6.38 miles on your way back from work, and it looks like a beautiful trail. Lucky you. I've only got asphalt and and a busy road to keep me company on my runs (not complaining though).

Here in Japan people also love to pile up rocks while they are hiking in the mountains, it is some kind of wishing for good luck on their trip.

    enjoy your running.

  5. Thanks Green Girl. The boy with the bat was freaky. But it also proves that I'm a little paranoid. I'm not used to running the road. I really started to think he was going to swing at me, and probably, he didn't even notice me! LOL.

  6. Thanks for reading Kate! I think I slept well that night. I try to get as much sleep as possible for recovery reasons. It seems the more hours I put in sleeping, the more hours I can run steep terrain. : )

  8. Daniel! So glad you stopped by. Another good thing about being a runner, is when your kids try to run from you. Don't know if you have children, but I ALWAYS catch mine.

Thanks for the insight on the rock stacking. I see it lots in So. Calif. And I always figured it was an artistic trend. Perhaps it is is a good luck ritual instead. I have seen amazing stacks.

ps. I hope that if someone chases me, they will give up. I am not fast, but I can run and run and run.

    Enjoy your running too!!

pss. My sister-in-law's parents are from Japan.
